The ironic thing about that argument is that health insurance is essentially a form of socialism anyway. Healthy people who don’t need medical care pay a regular premium to help cover the costs for the services the sick people in the program need. Most of the ones opposed to the health care plan because it is socialism are already enrolled in one of the existing programs.
Well we’re making some progress here. So if insurance is a form of socialism (spreading the risk, …) then socialism must be a form of insurance (spreading the risk, …). We’ll make a liberal out of you yet.
