So did FDR. That’s a Godwin’s Law violation, clear as day.

ATTENTION, PEOPLE.

The Internet, by and large, obviously has no idea what Godwin’s Law actually states, nor what its existence implies.

Simply, Godwin’s Law asserts that as any internet argument grows longer in duration, the probability increases that one or more of the participants will be compared to personalities associated with Nazi Germany.

That’s all.

So, if a scenario occurs in which a number of insane racist political partisans in, say, Mississippi, meet in a beer hall and incompetently attempt to overthrow the government and thereby all wind up in prison, IT IS NOT A VIOLATION OF GODWIN’S LAW to point out that it is somewhat reminiscent of the Munich Putsch of 1923.

Godwin’s Law is not a trump card to be deployed whenever anyone compares modern-day events to Nazi Germany. It only predicts that people on the internet tend toward hyperbole.
