I’m not sure but my grandparents home county went from being solidly Mondale to solidly Trump. TBH, I don’t get these people. They really think Trump is doing a great job, that he cares about them, and that the criticism is overblown. Shrug, frankly they’re seeing what they want to see out if Trump.

They are still mainly responding to his rhetoric and his personal style: how many of his policies have actually been implemented to the point that they have any direct influence on their lives to date?

Tax reform is only going to show up in next year’s returns, environmental protection changes are incremental and cumulative and changes in immigration policy will have little effect on mostly white, working-class communities like Saginaw.
