For conservative abuse of commercial sites like 23andMe and Ancestry (though I also object to the Mormons running that) is exactly why I have no intent of ever submitting DNA samples to do genealogy research.

I have no faith in a corporation to guard my privacy.

Note that Ancestry has gone through a couple of iterations of ownership by now, including being held by an investment group. The people who now own it may be Mormon - I don’t know - but it is not officially related to the LDS.

Regarding DNA - I have no qualms about doing the genealogy DNA tests.
