OK, so I spoke to a couple of my online students in China, Shenzhen specifically - they’re involved in IT.

Their view was that among the tech startups in Shenzen, they have no problems with what Trump is doing right now in regards to the ongoing trade war, because they’re now getting a lot more support from the central government in Beijing, mostly in terms of increased funding in order to accelerate their development so they can be self-reliant - which in the long term, will not be good for US tech companies. The general view is that while yes, there will be some short-term pain, they are looking at a much further horizon.

Those IT students in Shenzhen both said they kind of hope Trump wins a second term, because that will all but ensure that the 21st century will be the Chinese Century.

Trump’s incompetence is going to take decades to repair.
