There are proofreaders and typists who will clean up thesis docs for a fee. They don’t write original content, but they fix the crap they’re given.

I hired an editor for my master’s thesis. Hiring a professional editor was actually a requirement, they had to sign off on the final document before we were allowed to send it to the printer and book binder. My lead adviser said I probably didn’t need it and that the requirement was in place because the school was somewhat popular with wealthy foreign students, South Koreans in particular, who didn’t have a good grasp of English. He was wrong tho’, the editor found plenty of minor errors. She explained that everyone has a gremlin or two in their writing style that tend to show up repeatedly.
