Don’t get me wrong - I really dug how quick the Fire was, and I was able to subscribe to some things (Analog, Asimov’s) that are unavailable on my iPad. But at the end of the day, the Amazon walled garden is even more restrictive than Apple’s. And that’s a damn shame.

I just look at it as a different sort of device than an open tablet. It delivers good value for $ if you’re looking for a device to buy and view media on. If you’re looking for something to display media you’re producing or acquiring on your own, it’s not as good as a regular Android device.
