Yertle has visions of tax cuts and budget slashes dancing in their heads. The present situation is such that he could be caught with a live boy and dead girl in his bed and the GOP would say “Well, let’s not rush to judgment…”

They want Trump’s signature on their fever-dream legislation. Once he’s done that, from a political POV, he’s outlived his usefulness.
