re: #109 Targetpractice
The subtext of the article is the “pro-life” crowd in TX are trying to chip away at that one last wall standing between them and a total abortion ban: People getting upset that there’s no exception for “life of the mother.” Their strategy is to convince people that pregnancies that endanger the life of the mother are “rare,” so there’s no need for such an exception. That even in cases of children getting pregnant as the result of incestuous rape, the “baby” can be carried to term “safely” and so that’s all that matters.
What happens to the child, to their “baby,” to the rapist, or all those peripherally involved? The “pro-life” folks don’t give a flying fuck, they’ve managed to bash down the last barrier that allows women some fate other than walking incubator. Next on the agenda: Convincing the same folks they just conned into accepting a total ban on abortion into believing that contraception is “dangerous.”
I hear ya
I’m just playing the what if game
Who makes the medical decisions
who is signing forms, permissions, informed consent etc
for the “mother”
For the fetus
Who pays for all this
And that’s all before we get to custody and what happens after..to *both* of them
Lawsuits will fly every step of the way
They have not thought this through
