McCain is now desperately trying to redirect the conversation by sucking up to Dave Weigel.

Maybe in a couple of hours his next excuse will be that he was being a “smartass.”

(Apparently that’s the up to the minute outrage. Biden’s “smartass” comment at the frozen yogurt shop).
