I see Unriehl doubles down on the claim that no Hispanics are white.

The whole thing makes me laugh and shake my head.

Before this case, the wingnuts were passing all sorts of legislation aimed at profiling and deporting anyone who even remotely “looked Latino”, whatever the hell that means. Now they’re falling all over themselves to say that Zimmerman couldn’t be racist because he’s Latino and not white.

What the fuck? It’s like these assholes have never seen the Caribbean, or Central and South America. Argentina is about as white as it gets, given the strong presence of the British. One of Chile’s national heroes is a man named Bernardo O’Higgins, who was Irish. There are plenty of black people that are Latinos, given the slave trade and centuries of intermarriage that have taken place. Being Latino is an ethnic and cultural identifier, NOT a race. You can be any race and be Latino.
