I never understood that particular delusion. The right wing makes such a big deal about hard work and the American dream, but yet they work so hard just to try to exploit supposed shortcuts to wealth, like electing a dumbass who promises them unicorns.

Hard work and the American dream will not lead to fabulous wealth in at least 99.999% of the cases.

The rational policy response is to try to alleviate wealth and income inequality because who needs this shit where a few dozen rich guys own half the country.

The irrational policy response is to sell pipe dreams of fabulous wealth to impressionable rubes.
