People complain (rightly) about the mess at DoE and DoEd, but it seems the real disaster that could harm us sooner is the Trump State Department.

Indeed. The messes at DoE and DoEd are both messes of commission, where actions that are taken create the harm. At State, it a mess of Omission. Lots of people gone, with no replacements lined up. Tillerson isolating himself. Career folks left in limbo without the political nominees who have the power to make decisions.

State’s going to die of the dwindles. Then we’ll have a crisis, and we’ll wonder who’s in charge, and the answer will be “Nobody.”
