The biggest and unfortunately totally unfixable problem with Trump is that he views every single interaction through the gravitational lens of his own massive ego. He explicitly said the reason he hired Omorosa and kept her on despite Kelly’s objections was that “she only said great things about me.” It’s the reason behind all the dysfunction detailed so far in the excerpts from Woodward’s book, the reason the anonymous NYT op-ed writer decided to go through with that bullshit stunt, the reason Trump was so easily suckered into both the disastrous Helsinki and Singapore summits. It’s gotten him to this point where he’s psychologically unravelling before our eyes as paranoia sets in after repeatedly being stabbed in the back by people he shouldn’t have trusted but did. He’s caught in a viper pit trap of his own making where he’s surrounded himself with scheming, obsequious people, almost none of whom truly respect him and many if not most of whom hate him and are terrified by what he’s capable of.
