The thing that poed me about Park-51 opponents was their implication that no Muslims were victims of 9-11 and that a mosque was akin to putting a swastika at a concentration camp site or some fallacy like that. Jon Stewart I think also destroyed the “argument” that the area was “holy ground” by pointing out that there was a strip club nearby.

Yeah, in the beginning I didn’t think it was the best idea to try to build a new mosque there, but when people started acting as if all Muslims are Nazis and asserting that we shouldn’t have the same rights/protections as other religions it forced me to change my mind. Haters like Geller getting involved only made me more resolute.

Somewhere—don’t remember where now—I have a list of all the politicians & public figures who spoke out against it. Opportunistic, pandering asshats.
