I’m not sure of the legality of a taser in California for civilian use. I’ve mostly legally carried a knife for 30 years. I had a knife that would draw a, “You know that knife is illegal.” from officers when I whipped it out in their presence. My response was, “Yeah, bought it on the internet, didn’t notice the size difference in the description.”

Tasers and stun guns are generally legal except for felons. Folding knives depend on local city ordinance and fixed blades are a bad idea unless hunting and worn openly in a belt sheath because State law prohibits concealed dirks / daggers.
