So Ford says she wants an FBI investigation before she testifies.
Grassley and Hatch say hey, weâre giving her a chance to come tell her story on Monday, if she doesnât want to then letâs just vote.
Morning Joe says what would an FBI investigation add?
Hereâs what it would add.
The other guy who was in the room, his lawyerâs letter says he doesnât remember any such event. But if he were subpoenaed and had to testify under oath, or if the FBI sat down to talk to him, maybe âhe doesnât remember such an eventâ turns into âI was a blackout drunk, I donât remember anything after 9pm on any day that whole yearâ⌠which doesnât confirm her story, but itâs sure not exculpatory for Kavanaugh either.
And one or two of the girls who were downstairs at the time, whose names she told WaPo⌠nobodyâs talked to them. But maybe theyâve since gotten married and changed their names, and when the story broke they decided to go sailing or camping or something for a couple of weeks and nobody can get them on the phone, because they or their husbands have professional reasons not to want to get on the bad side of an appellate court judge who might soon be a supreme, so WaPo canât reach them to ask. But if there were an FBI investigation, they canât stay incommunicado forever. Theyâd have to answer a few questions. Like if there was such a party, and she ran downstairs and out of the house looking frazzled, and the guys told them something and they stopped being friendly with her and never spoke to her again.
This is what would be the point of an FBI investigation.
