Starting with the sheriff of Weld County, Colo., a bunch of the rural county sheriffs in Colorado have now said they will refuse to enforce Colorado’s new so-called red flag law. They say they’d rather go to jail on principle (upholding the Second Amendment and due process rights).

The due process thing is nonsense since the order to seize firearms has to go through a judge, and the person who is the target of the order gets to present their own case.

In the meantime, Nebraska state senator Adam Morfeld (D-46th district, north half of Lincoln and northern rural area beyond the city) introduced a red flag bill in the Unicameral this year. It’s on the legislative schedule to be debated.

It’s bad enough when private persons belong to the sovereign citizen movement, but it reaches a new level of danger for our nation when law enforcement officials also subscribe to this movement.
