They are, at their core, a punk band, and sometimes you have to write politcal music. It was definitely political. That was it’s point. Considering it was released in 2004, there was a reason it was political.

I understand that. I’m just saying that I think there was political protest music in 2004 and I don’t think American Idiot was that. Against Me, I think really has stayed the test of time for example. I might feel better about AI if it hadn’t gotten to the point where it became a Broadway production.
