I never cease to marvel at how poorly, and minimally, houses are built here for the prices they demand.

I wouldn’t be interested in anything of recent construction, especially not a cookie-cutter mcmansion. There are still some lovingly maintained custom-built homes of various styles from before about 1960. I am partial to Art Deco but not sure I’m partial enough to shell out the bucks for a good one. Still, they exist and I do feel the attraction.
My current home was built in 1908.
