Exactly. My parents were German and Irish, but the Irish were Europe’s mercenaries for centuries and many of the Spanish Armada’s ships foundered off the Irish west coast as they tried to get back to Spain. Many of the rescued sailors liked the place (good Catholic country and all). I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I had a drop or two of Moorish blood in my veins.

is it where you came from
is it when you came from there
is it how long you predecessors were there
is it blood
is it dna
or, gasp, food
if you were literally abducted at birth and raised elsewhere and elsewise, which are you? (obvious physical traits notwithstanding)

how do you even know?
what your parents and family told you?
even dna tests don’t tell a full story
