As coronavirus cases increase, Gov. Kim Reynolds says Iowa has no plans for shelter-in-place order

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds doesn’t see the need for more drastic action, such as shelter-in-place orders seen in several California counties, to stem the novel coronavirus spread in Iowa.

Instead, she’s counting on Iowans to follow current directives on limited social gatherings, keeping distance from other people and staying home if they feel ill.

The governor had with her their chief medical officer, who stated testing for Covid-19 was not necessary, just stay home if you’re sick.

What this tells me is that they have given up on the idea of chasing an infection’s history of contacts, i.e., just assuming that SARS-Cov-2 is and will remain in the community at large.
