I saw the movie, pretty terrifying. The way the handmaids were induced to attack and kill a supposed rapist (actually a dissident) is based on a real Maoist practice called Thamzing. It’s designed to make ordinary people complicit in state terror and thus prevent them from rebelling.

All I know is that I’d be out working in the radioactive fields….
