They exist-they’re called variable-yield warheads.
I don’t doubt it. I’m sure a lot of thought has gone into this. But would they do any less damage—long term—than a small suitcase bomb.
I’ll admit I don’t know much. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were quickly rebuilt, and people took up residence right over ground zero. But the long term effects on the bodies and psyches of the victims—was it different from conventional firebombing (I know—a howler)? I tend toward the view that “nuclear” lasts a long time. I may be wrong.
