In comparison I think a lot of USA WW2 equipment where there were markets (China, Japan, India, etc.) went into civilian use and probably at bargain prices.

I was thinking that in a number of these countries there weren’t car manufacturers to lobby against the importation of foreign vehicles.
In other countries, I suspect that the locals were considered defeated foes and had less of a say into their future.
At the end of WW2, the US was very fortunate in one way, because the major countries we occupied had pre-existing infrastructure. Once we got that social and physical infrastructure back up and running, we could step back from running those countries.
