As a cyclist, I wouldn’t have locked up my bike up like this guy did. You bring it inside at night, or use a heavy duty lock and cable(s). My locks have always been an expensive investment, and even they make them for specific areas. However, even the mid-range ones take about 30-45 minutes to get through; it’s all about making it less desireable than the next one.

Yes, it’s a hassle to bring this stuff around or carry your bike up stairs. Having your bike stolen is demoralizing, but this guy handled it the wrong way (and he might be racist, yes).
