I do love how they think they weren’t socially conservative enough. The strategy that worked for them in 2004 has backfired for them in 2012. And it helps that more and more Democratic candidates are saying loudly and clearly that they’re for marriage equality and explaining why. This is a losing battle for them just like fighting segregation was for the racists in the 60’s. I really want to have a day where I have children or grandchildren and they’re asking me “No, no seriously dad(or grandpa) people actually cared about that.” And then I’ll laugh and tell them I remember what I was doing when we got OBL. We’re becoming on social issues a more center-left nation and to quote the Rolling Stones in It’s Only Rock and Roll, “And I like it.”

I had a lot of conversations with folks who lived through the Civil Rights Era, and they felt and eerie sense of deja vu during this election season.
Even for those of us who were born after 1968, there was a distinct feeling of urgency.
Moreover, black men recognized the tactics used to smear the president, and could relate. It happens to them more than many would like to admit.

My attitude was pride, after seeing the turnout on the day I voted.
Just try and keep us from voting, we knew what they were up to, and we wanted to make sure those bastards had very little room to cheat.

This time, it was personal.
