re: #106 Joe Bacon
I can still remember the first time that Mom, Dad and I had Kentucky Fried Chicken. The Colonel was just starting out in the early 60s selling the flour to selected restaurants before KFC set up stores. We had it at Duff’s Rebel Restaurant in Winchester Virginia. They served it with real mashed potatoes, cole slaw, peas and scratch biscuits that melted in your mouth. It was so good that we had two servings of the chicken. Dad talked to Grandma about it and she invested in KFC right when they started the take-out stands.
Hey…I remember when KFC was just a recipe. First time I had it was at Kenny King’s restaurants up in Cleveland. It was real good then because they spent the time on it. That has to be the early to mid 60s.
