My personal opinion, and I have no data to back it up, is that in 2008 and 2016 there was a feeling of “we are okay with a woman as president, just not that woman.” I was never an enthusiastic supporter of Hillary Clinton, and honestly only decided to vote for her in the voting booth because I ultimately found her to be the least bad choice. I suspect that a woman will hold the office sooner, rather than later.

My feeling, as a woman, is that this is ALWAYS the excuse and it’s a lie people tell themselves to disguise the prejudices they don’t want to deal with.

But again, personal opinion with no data to back it up.
