Okay, so you guys know Iām into genealogical research. Learning some stuff about marriage that really I think turns the wingnut view of sex only after marriage morality on its head. Apparently in Germany, before marriage, couples would try to see if the woman was fertile before marriage. And also it wasnāt that uncommon for people to marry older. So much of what wingnuts claim is ātraditional valuesā isnāt really traditional at all. Itās their 1950ās view of things.
The whole āno sex before marriageā deal was merely advisory in the past, not a requirement. Plenty of kids were born less than nine months after their parentsā marriage date. People out on the frontier in the American colonies would also live together sans official marriage ceremonies or documentation, because there was no one there to perform said officiating.
