I think the “logic” goes something like this:

1. Trump and Cohen did nothing illegal.
2. The Deep State made up/planted evidence.
3. They want to get Cohen in a dark room under a bright light to offer a false confession/false evidence of Trump wrong doing.
4. Cohen, like Trump, is too good of a man to fall for that.

The argument at the base of all this being that Cohen is such a pathetically bad lawyer that he has no way of proving that the evidence against him is falsified, so he’ll have no choice but to choose to go to the clink to protect The Don.
