re: #100 William Lewis

First time I went, it must have been Thursday as I had dad drop me off on his way to work at 3:00 - theater was nearly empty but those of us there cheered ourselves silly. The Friday, Newsweek and Time had their cover reviews. The line was around the block the second time I went to the same theater days later.

I saw it it sometime in the summer of 1977, I was jumping out of my seat by the end, and still think it is one of the best science fiction movies ever made. As for the rest…okay in places but overall nowhere nearly as good.

One thing I recall thinking coming out of the theater is how well it would age: would it look like old Buck Rodgers or tacky space-age 50’s science fiction in a few decades?

One has to admit that it not only set the industry standard but one hardly looks at it and says “Wow, how totally 1970s!”
