Technically, this change could open the door for johns being liable for statutory rape as well (assuming the sex act was performed).
But I don’t practice criminal law, so I don’t know if that would actually be the case.
It’s a complicated area of law and policy, and overlaps with many other areas that can also get complicated or at least convoluted. Personally, I tend to lean towards legalization/regulation of prostitution but that’s mostly because of my libertarian sensibilities and general rejection of puritanism/fundamentalism.
Underage rape for profit does fit the bill for statutory rape —but that makes way to much sense for prosecuters.
