Rehoboth? Makes me wonder but can someone check Delaware’s drinking age at that time? Rehoboth at least now is a lgbt friendly resort. I used to stay in neighboring Dewey since my much older cousin had a cottage there.

You know, speaking of drinking age, one thing from Kavanaugh’s testimony struck me. He indicated MD’s drinking age was 18 that summer (1982), which may be true, but also irrelevant, since he was 17.

But the other thing is, the way Maryland raised its drinking age to 21 was by making it so that nobody born after June 30, 1964 would be allowed to drink till they were 21. Kavanaugh, having been born in 1965, would have been KEENLY AWARE of that, so much so that even today he’d surely remember it - legal drinking would have continuously receded before him for 5 years.

So, to say ‘the drinking age was 18 then’, it’s a remarkable bit of misdirection, which he didn’t need to do. He could have just said, “Sure, we were underage, and we drank anyway”, and nobody would have thought worse of him.
