The Left Wing Christianist arm of the GOP still hopes that Cruz could still get to 1247 (something like that) if Kasich and Rubio drops out.
However it plays out, as many have said, if they try to take away Trump’s nomination if he comes into the convention with the most delegates there will be a real GOP civil war. (Ken Burns style)

A lot of DT’s supporters are Tea Partiers, who align with the GOP when it suits their agenda but owe it no allegiance. If their favorite candidate is denied the nomination, those supporters will abandon the GOP entirely and stay home in November.
