I’ve heard a lot of modern comedians say he was a huge influence on them.

I can certainly understand why. Yeah, Redd Foxx was one of the legends. He was even referenced on The Simpsons one time, when Krusty says “Ah, Redd Foxx…..God rest his smutty soul.”
