Pence would just be a caretaker POTUS until 2021. As far as the GOP field for next year under such a scenario, I’d imagine it’d be an open contest, as part of the deal would be that Pence wouldn’t stand for election.

A repeat of the 2016 GOP contest, but without Trump. How they’d do is anyone’s guess, as I suspect that without Trump’s personality cult, the GOP would up shit creek and if their base chose to register their displeasure by sitting it out next year, they’d be in for some serious damage.
