Yep, so in my background check I would go ‘Do you live in proximity to a person with a history of mental illness?’ And then when they go ‘yep’, I say, ‘Please purchase a safe with a bio-metric lock to prevent that person having access.’

And I wouldn’t even have been thinking about that person going on a rampage and killing a bunch of kids, I would have been thinking about helping prevent the mentally ill person from committing suicide.

Also, Nancy Lanza took her son shooting with her often, didn’t she?

She did. You bring up another point though about shootings. There’s lots of cases of self-inflicted deaths to shooting that get forgotten since the media focuses more on homicides than it does suicides.
