b.d. pointed out that the AZ state constitution lists that the governor appoints from the same party and they finish out the term. He had the link in the last thread.
So the Senate seat is treated differently than the Congressional seat (which is what I was basing my original thought of a special election from). Now, itās possible that due to the AZ chain of command, the sec of state takes over (I believe AZ does not have a lt gov position) but that means that thereās still a special election for some position to be filled unless the new gov gets to appoint one (I havenāt gone that far down the Rabbit Hole) but itās been a couple of decades since Rose Mofford took over for when they booted out that racist Evan Mecham (who knew he was ahead of his time?)
