The median age of Americans is 38 years old, give or take a few months. The Soviet Union collapsed at the end of 1991. That means there is probably close to half of the American people that have no living memory of any sort of existential communist threat. And it probably goes over 50% when you factor in people in their early to mid-40s (like me) that only have the vaguest of memories of the communist threat of the 1980s.

Right. Could go either way. I think a healthy amount of skepticism towards government power is good but I think those too skeptical of government are often too accepting of corporate abuse of power too.
