That’s what it seems like to me as well; Kasich is getting ready for the post-Trump Republican party and he’s jockeying for a leadership position. Yeah, I doubt Trump will “go away quietly”….he’ll still have rabid supporters, after all. But I also think a lot of Republicans (aside from the Trump cultists) will disown Trump if he loses big this November - and especially if the GOP loses the Senate as a result.

Like I just said
They won’t lift a finger to ensure he’s out
And they’re still hedging just enough in case things go well for them
