There’s only two real reasons to oppose an investigation at this point: Fear of the midterms and fear that there is actually something to Prof. Ford’s allegations. If you believe he’s truly innocent and the process is not being rushed, then putting a hold on the confirmation to allow the FBI to reopen their background check into him should settle the matter.

I think the public is seeing it that way too which is why I think they’re pushing full speed ahead ignoring the icebergs. I think they know that they’ve lost so they might as well get the elusive 5th Justice.
