I remember when Obama slipping up mid campaign saying 57 states was somehow proof Obama was this outsider who was ignorant about our country. Trump? Gets a prepared speech on 4th of July wrong about our nation’s founding. And yes I could go without the militarism too. I appreciate our vets. I’m even named for one but America is more than our military. It’s our people- music, film, literature, sports, scientific and technological advances, among other things too.

An acquaintance made a mildly snarky remark on FB about Trump’s speech and one of his Trumpster friends responded with “Well, he didn’t visit all 57 states”. We are not going to win in 2020 by being critical of Trump’s inability to read; that is not an impeachable offense. When marching in the parade yesterday with my congressman, I asked him when they are going to impeach Trump — he is definitely one who does not seem enthusiastic about the prospect and responded that they are waiting for Mueller’s testimony.

July 4 is supposed to be about the ideas of our founding and not our military. But all tinpot dictators love them a military salute — and that’s who is ruling us now. We are heading toward banana republic status.
