The bailout is costing more than the tariffs bring in, and much of it is going to corporate agriculture and not to farmers and their families.

As I’ve noted before, these are bailouts that we can expect to continue past 2020. Those markets that our farmers relied upon have either been closed to them or severely depreciated such that product is simply rotting away in storage. The situation will not magically reverse itself in Jan 2021, so we can expect the next round of bailouts to suddenly be a means by which the GOP tries desperately to mend fences with their rural base.
