That is part of it.

Montreal has some real assholes there… The Nigel Farage kind, running for premier.

The West had the Wild Rose party. Mostly in a Alberta.

The globalization of hated and right wing authoritarianism isn’t helping.

At the same time, generally speaking, Canadians are smart and well educated (and I’m talking in general, not just post high school). But they’re hardly immune.
