Human trafficking lawsuit alleges Pa. Mennonite Church subjected boys, young men to forced labor

A *huge* part of that is due to our *thing* of letting parents nearly completely control their children until they are 18 or get emancipated. This allows parents to send kids off to these shitty schools, which are all over the country, where the kids are tortured and treated like slaves and it’s perfectly legal if they’re minors and their parents signed them in.

It’s NOT legal if they were over 18 and if they were not prisoners. Yay 13th amendment, separating out the prisoners from the benefits of emancipation. //// Given this is a lawsuit, I suspect the current plaintiffs were underage when they were forced to labor.

There are some things that just cause me to completely lose my shit, and abuse of children is at the top of the list. There’s too much LEGAL child abuse in this country because we have this whole “parents own their kids” thing and “spare the rod and spoil the child.” /sorry not sorry for the rant.
