I’m late weighing in on this, but if what he said is true, that he attended the rally but didn’t go to the Capitol, I don’t think he should be fired.

If a teacher felt the need to attend that shit show, it’s a matter of “when, not if” before they start some sort of MAGAty shit in front of their students: making them pray during class, complaining about the curriculum being “woke”, refusing to address students by their requested pronouns, etc.

Attending a rally where the fucking President of the United States is trying to start a riot by lying about the election speaks a lot about a person’s character. And that character is “I have a hard time recognizing reality and probably shouldn’t be in charge of large groups of children.”
