Democratic VP candidate Kaine visits city

Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine says while the Democratic presidential nominee is focused on improving the economy, her opponent is too busy “shadow boxing” with everyone from the family of a war hero to his fellow Republicans.

“While we’ve been talking about jobs, Donald Trump has been going after a family of a war hero. Donald Trump has been going after fellow Republicans, and talking about why he won’t endorse them in the primaries,” Kaine said to cheers Friday at a campaign rally at Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery. “We’re talking about jobs. Donald Trump is basically shadow boxing with every enemy he can think of.”

Kaine’s comments during his first campaign stop in Wisconsin were a clear reference to Trump’s battle with the Muslim family of a fallen U.S. soldier, and his hesitancy to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan of Janesville. Kaine’s appearance came before a Trump rally Friday night in Green Bay.
