I remember people telling me politics is boring, while I thought it was fascinating. Now I understand that boring (in politics) is a good thing. It means the people in charge know WTF they are doing, and that we the people can expect that tomorrow will be pretty much like today, which was like yesterday, barring emergencies and natural disasters. Despite all the RWNJ/racist carping during Obama’s administration, those eight years were really very boring, because nearly everything was working the way it should.

In contrast, politics since Trump took office has been a constant reminder that the people in charge have no fucking clue how to run this country, much less a Keurig coffee maker. Chief among those losers is the occupier of the Oval Office, who daily embarrasses the USA publicly each time he has access to Twitter, who has no plan, no agenda, no strategy. All he has are his feelings at any particular moment, which he feels qualify him to make world-changing decisions, because only he can fix.

I went to sleep last night knowing that Mattis was out and Powell was probably going to keep his job. Woke up, and Mattis has been kicked out of the White House ahead of schedule and the effin’ Treasury Secretary is conference calling heads of major banks.

Putting it mildly, this is not good. This is not how politics in a stable nation is supposed to work. This is how politics works in what were formerly called “banana republics” where the rules of law and best practice were ignored to benefit the people in charge, and fuck up everyone else.

We’re not there yet, but if the economy gets completely broken, watch out for even more dangerous shenanigans by this White House.
