Internet culture leans toward hyperbole, performative negativity, and gatekeeping as people get more and more bunkered into viewing their interests as their identity. Hence basically everything fannish on the internet having the same fucking toxic shit happen.

Same Skinner box, shaping the rats to shit themselves and roll in it with slightly different stimuli.

Only solution is for everyone to say “fuck this, this is a Skinner box” but too many people think their pellet ration is special and richly deserved.
